Series: Thinking About Buying a Franchise? | Video 5 of 46

Do You Actually Get Support After You Sign?

In Video 5 of the Franchise Investor Series, we tackle one of the most critical—but often misunderstood—parts of buying a franchise: the training and support you get from the franchisor.

What Good Training Looks Like

When evaluating a franchise, don’t just ask if they provide training. Ask how it’s delivered. Look for:

  • Classroom and hands-on learning
  • Ongoing virtual training or webinars
  • Access to a comprehensive operations manual
  • Support with hiring, onboarding, and marketing
  • Real-world field assistance from Franchise Business Consultants (FBCs)

Don’t Just Take Their Word for It

Many franchisors talk a big game about support—but you need to hear it from franchisees. Ask them:

  • Did you feel fully prepared to launch?
  • How helpful was your FBC or trainer?
  • Do they answer your questions quickly?
  • Have they visited your location since you opened?

Real-World Story

A quick-service restaurant franchise promised “world-class support” in its brochure. But franchisees reported a 2-day crash course—and zero follow-up. The result? Poor launches, bad reviews, and multiple closures within the first year. Don’t let that be you.

Quote of the Day

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” — Benjamin Franklin
